It is used to treat bacterial septicemia; bone and joint infections; CNS infections such as meningitis; infections in immunocompromised patients (empiric therapy); gynecologic infections including endometritis and pelvic cellulitis; intra-abdominal infections including peritonitis; lower respiratory tract infections including pneumonia; skin and skin-structure infections; and complicated and uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
